\u3000Happiness does not always nourish poetry. In fact, hardship can be the food of poetry. Croatian haiku is a gift of poetical sense, awakened and horned by a history of hardships.
\n\u3000As for the submissions by native Japanese speakers, they must communicate the inevitable reason for making them in a foreign language. Without it, it is just nonsense, a waste of words and abilities. A typical example is an entry that was simply translated from a haiku made in Japanese. In order to make an exceptional English Haiku, it may be necessary to develop the Haiku with an English mentality.
\n\u3000This time, despite the large number of Haiku that were submitted, extremely few submissions met that standard. I hope that this is not a reflection of the indifferent attitude of modern Japanese society.
